Freedom Writers
has anyone seen "Freedom Writers yet?" If so (or if not), check out this link, it shows the real Erin Gruwell and talks about the whole story. It is an interesting story and if you have not seen the movie, you really should!

Final blog/project revised
The theme that I am basing my final project and blog on is a very important topic today. I got this idea in my Teachers, Families, Societies class I am taking here at Stockton. Since I am going to school to become a teacher,I figured I should base my blog on something that had to do with teaching! So, my blog will be on the purposes and functions of schools, the current education practices and procedures being used, the effects of schooling on children, the control of schools, and I will be talking about some major issues that concern the profession of teaching. I believe that this topic will interest others who want to be teachers and will also help me better educate myself on topics that are going on in the teaching profession today. And hopefully, even if you are not studying to be a teacher, you will still be interested in my blog!
Since Professor Stefans and I agreed that this topic does not tie into the idea of New Media Studies as much as other topics would...I am trying to revise my thesis in order to relate it more to a New Media Studies kind of vibe. This will be an ongoing process and I plan on working with two other girls in the class who are also interested in technology in classrooms so that we can come to a sort of conclusion about how exactly New Media Studies can relate to it. Throughout the next few weeks, we will be developing this idea more and more.
